The difference between the pharmacy from Pharmacy

* "Pharmacy" and "pharmaceuticals" - these are two different end result. If you are currently "pharmacy" is preparing only 3% of medicines consumed, the "Pharmaceuticals", and behind her, the pharmaceutical industry - 97% of medicines consumed in the world, having finished dosage forms.

* Overseas, the term "pharmacy" is associated with the retail outlets in locations where you can buy the necessary medicine or means to care for a sick person to get medical advice, become an owner of cosmetics, shampoo, office supplies, candy and just that- something to eat. With regard to pharmaceuticals, it is not engaged in trade.

* The difference between the terms "pharmacy" and "pharmaceuticals" highlighted in the Oxford English Dictionary. "Pharmacy» (pharmacy) is defined as a place for making and selling drugs, as well as activities for the preparation of medicines. "Pharmacy» (pharmaceutics) - means activities involving the production of medicines and medicinal substances in industrial plants [3]. Similar differences in the definition of these terms exist in the industrialized countries, in India and China.

* Another objection to the use of synonymous terms "pharmacy" and "pharmacy" is that the pharmacy is the name of the whole complex of scientific and practical disciplines, which is not a pharmacy. On the contrary, in the international community pharmacy is one of the disciplines of pharmacy. The latest addition includes the pharmaceutical chemistry of drugs, pharmacognosy, technology of preparation of dosage forms, practice in the retail and stationary units that implement the medicines and care, recommends that the combination of medicines, treatments and monitor their safety and effectiveness.

* Moreover, the unification of the terms "pharmaceuticals" and "pharmacy" leads to international isolation of the respective production, technological domain of knowledge and practices carried out in Russian, and prevents the international harmonization of knowledge and  economic activity.

* Another argument in favor of distinguishing these terms is the polysemy of the term "pharmacy" in the international community, which is shown below. Pharmacy in hospitals, clinics or hospitals is very different from the retail pharmacy. Specialists working in inpatient pharmacy, called in Russia "Clinical Pharmacology", as a rule, have more specialized training and experience. They develop a complex scheme of medical patient care, considering indications and contraindications to the use of highly integrated drugs in particular heavy patient. Often they are specialized in specific medical disciplines such as hematology / oncology, HIV / AIDS, infectious disease, intensive and emergency treatment, toxicology, radionuclide therapy, pain therapy, neurology / psychiatry, anticoagulation therapy, herbs, pediatrics / neonatology , geriatrics.
Extemporal pharmacy engaged in manual preparation and release of perishable medicines and dosage forms for individual prescriptions. Experts, practitioners advise pharmacy operating in boarding for the disabled and in nursing homes. Currently online pharmacy supplying medicines at very affordable prices has multi-million dollar retail sales. It is worth mentioning Veterinary Pharmacy, pharmacy with the use of radionuclides and Pharmacy, operating in the armed forces.
