RUSSIA starts manufacturing of influenza vaccine A/H1N1

In Russia, begin to produce new vaccines against pandemic influenza. According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko, by March 2010 the vaccine will be vaccinated about 40 million people.
However, it is unclear how many will need vaccinations for one person - one or two. According to the safety requirements in the first year of a pandemic must be covered 40 percent of the population. Such a task is put before the heads of federal subjects.
Tests of a vaccine against influenza A/H1N1 / begin after September 7 at volunteers in St. Petersburg. The experiment could last a month.
The enterprises in St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Ufa produced experimental batches of three types of vaccines: live, inactivated / killed / innovation. "In testing, the vaccine is important for us to know how to behave in an antidote: it is enough if one injection to produce antibodies or require more. This is in addition to the fact that we carefully study the toxicity of the antidotes, reactogenicity, the immune response of the human body" - explains Onishchenko.
